ANSARIS SCIENTIST CHARLES REYNOLDS, PH.D. ELECTED FELLOW OF AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY

BLUE BELL, PA – October 22, 2010 – Ansaris R&D Executive Charles Reynolds, Ph.D. has been inducted into the 2010 class of Fellows for the American Chemical Society (ACS), the world’s largest scientific society.

“It is a great honor to be recognized as a Fellow of the American Chemical Society,” Reynolds said. “Even more so when I consider the other outstanding scientists, educators, and leaders who were selected,” added Dr. Reynolds.

Reynolds was one of 192 distinguished scientists honored this year who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in chemistry and made important contributions to ACS. Including Dr. Reynolds, only four awardees came from the pharmaceutical industry.

Prior to joining Ansaris, Reynolds led modeling groups at the Springhouse, PA and La Jolla, CA research sites of Johnson & Johnson, where he and his team made significant contributions to discovery programs in neuroscience, oncology, pain, and cardiovascular disease. He currently holds an appointment at the Pennsylvania Center for Drug Discovery, is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Keystone Symposia, sits on the Industrial Advisory Board for Quantum Bio, and has held numerous leadership positions in the ACS.

The fellows program began in 2009 to recognize and honor ACS members for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession, and the Society. Additional information about the program is available here.

About Ansaris

Ansaris is a division of Locus Pharmaceuticals, a privately held biopharmaceutical company focused on solving today’s small molecule drug discovery challenges, which has been the leader in fragment based drug design (FBDD) since its inception in 1999. Ansaris’ proprietary technology platform combines a torsion-space algorithm for building better protein modeling with in silico fragment-based drug design to yield break-through therapeutics. The approach has enabled the advancement of numerous “stalled” programs by identifying new protein forms and novel binding sites including competitive and allosteric sites on enzymes and hotspots for protein-protein interactions. Ansaris has successfully generated drug candidates in oncology, inflammation, infectious and cardiovascular diseases and currently has an ongoing collaboration with Novartis. Additionally, Ansaris has successfully employed its core technology to build an internal portfolio of assets.
